👣 Step by Step

1. 1Choose a 10-foot stretch of beach above the tide line.
2. 2Scoop the top layer of sand into your sieve and shake gently.
3. 3Pick out anything that's clearly plastic — fragments, nurdles, fibers, or foam.
4. 4Sort what you find into categories: fragments, fibers, foam, film.
5. 5Count and record each category in your notebook.
6. 6Repeat in two more spots and add up your totals.
7. 7Dispose of the plastic in a trash bin — don't put it back on the beach.

• •Were pieces colorful or mostly white/clear?
• •How many pieces did you find in total across all spots?
