Protecting Florida's Waters One Recovery at a Time
We Don't Just Clean the Water. We Find What the Water Hides.
Our Mission
Space Coast Water Sweep is dedicated to restoring Florida's waterways by locating, documenting, and removing abandoned fishing gear, underwater debris, and other hazards that threaten wildlife and our environment. Through community volunteers, innovative technology, education, and partnerships, we empower people to take an active role in protecting our waters.
Why This Matters
Every year, abandoned crab traps, fishing gear, and underwater debris continue to damage Florida's waterways. These hidden hazards trap marine life, endanger boaters, damage habitats, and reduce the health of ecosystems like the Indian River Lagoon.
By finding what the water hides, we can protect wildlife, improve water quality, and help restore one of Florida's greatest natural resources.
What We Do
- •Organize volunteer trap recovery events during FWC-approved seasons and permitted recovery efforts.
- •Locate and remove underwater debris that threatens wildlife and navigation.
- •Train volunteers to safely identify and report environmental hazards.
- •Use innovative mapping and reporting technology to document problems before they become larger issues.
- •Educate the community through outreach, schools, and conservation programs.
- •Partner with conservation organizations, government agencies, and local communities to maximize our impact.
