Reporting a trap does not authorize you to touch, pull, or tamper with any crab trap.

Under Florida law, it is illegal to remove or disturb crab traps without proper authorization.

If you believe a trap may be abandoned or derelict:

• • Do NOT touch or pull the trap
• • Take a photo of the trap if it is in low water — or just the buoy if you cannot see the trap
• • Submit the location through the app

Reports are reviewed and may be addressed during authorized trap removal efforts coordinated with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
